What types of disability benefits are available?

There are several types of Social Security disability benefits available to individuals and their families. Yes; however the amount of Social Security benefits you receive will be reduced so that the combined amount of disability benefits and workers’ compensation payment does not exceed 80 percent of the amount you earned while employed. Yes. To encourage people who are receiving benefits to return to work, the Social Security Administration provides a work incentives program. Under this program, you can continue to receive benefits for a specific amount of time, depending on the type of benefits you are receiving, while you gradually return to work.

My claim has been denied, what should I do now?

If your disability claim has been denied, you have the right to have your case reconsidered by the Social Security Administration within 60 days of receiving notice of your denial. When your case is reconsidered, you have the opportunity to present additional information to support your claim. If your claim is denied after reconsideration, your case will be heard before a judge.
